Korg Wavedrum
The Evolution of the Wavedrum
The Wavedrum Global Edition is the latest and most advanced addition to the Wavedrum family. It offers an extensive range of cutting-edge sounds from around the world, improved sound quality, and enhanced usability. Korg first introduced the Wavedrum in 1994, and in 2009, they released the Wavedrum WD-X, which revolutionized the world of percussion instruments. Since then, Korg has continued to innovate with models like the Wavedrum Oriental and Wavedrum Mini, expanding the instrument’s capabilities and popularity.
Unparalleled Musical Expression
The Wavedrum Global Edition is a second-generation dynamic percussion synthesizer that combines DSP-powered algorithms with PCM sounds to deliver exceptional musical expression. It features a pressure sensor and multiple pickups that capture the nuances of your strikes on the head and rim, allowing for a wide range of sounds and performance techniques. With 200 preset programs and 200 user programs, you have access to a vast array of sounds and customization options. The instrument is designed to be user-friendly, with added input sensitivity to accommodate beginners and professionals alike.
Revolutionary Synthesis Technology
The Wavedrum Global Edition utilizes innovative DSP synthesis and PCM samples to create a diverse range of sounds. With 60 DSP algorithms and 400 PCM instruments, you can create realistic instrument sounds, natural sounds, or purely synthetic sounds. The instrument allows you to control the speed, pitch, and pressure effects of your strikes, providing a playing experience that rivals acoustic instruments.
Percussion Sounds from Around the World
In addition to traditional drum sounds, the Wavedrum Global Edition offers a wide variety of percussion instruments from different cultures. From the cajon and djembe to the darbuka and tabla, you can explore the sounds of various ethnic instruments. The instrument also includes string instruments like the sitar and koto. Each sound is faithfully recreated, allowing you to easily play percussion instruments that would normally require years of practice.
Enhanced Sound Quality and Variety
The Wavedrum Global Edition focuses on enhancing acoustic instrument sounds, such as snare drums and congas, to provide a more realistic playing experience. It also offers a rich selection of Latin American and African instruments, as well as sound effects and electronic sounds. Whether you’re playing traditional percussion or experimenting with electronic music styles, the Wavedrum Global Edition has you covered.
Original Performances and Expressive Techniques
The Wavedrum Global Edition not only offers a wide range of sounds but also allows for unique performance techniques. You can change the pitch with each strike or apply pressure to control the decay or produce sustained sounds. These expressive techniques are only possible on the Wavedrum Global Edition, giving you the ability to create original and immersive performances.
Customization and Jamming Features
The instrument comes with 200 preset programs and allows you to save your own original sounds in the user area. It also has a Live mode for quick program selection during performances. Additionally, the Wavedrum Global Edition includes 140 loop phrases from various genres for practice or jamming. You can even connect an audio source through the AUX input to mix in external music.
Portable and Versatile
The Wavedrum Global Edition is designed to be portable, compact, and lightweight, making it suitable for any musical excursion.
